Session 1 -Characteristics of a Marriage that Stands: The Christ Centered Marriage

An Overview: The Marriage Built on the Rock, Matt. 7:24-28, Mt. 16:13-19

Session 2 – A Marriage That Stands Takes Commitment

Short presentations from couples from your church who have been married for several years, followed by question and answer from the audience and brief presentation of the types of the two types of commitment: Dedication commitment and Constraint commitment.

Session 3 – A Marriage That Stands Applies God’s Purposes and Prayer to Marriage Eph. 6:18

In this session I explore with couples that God’s purposes for our marriages include more than just our happiness, God wants to make us holy. We will also look at the importance of and how to have personal and couple daily devotions and how to pray together as a couple.

Session 4 – A Marriage That Stands Is a Marriage That Understands the Principles of Spiritual Warfare

Marriages today are under attack from all directions including from the world, the flesh and the devil. The purpose of this session is to help couples understand the basics of spiritual warfare and tools to survive spiritual attack.

Session 5 – A Marriage That Stands Uses the Right Keys to Unlock Love and Respect

In this session, which could also be four separate sessions, giving 50 minutes to each topic, we will examine the keys of:
Key #1: Servant hood in Marriage: Learning the Speaker/Listener Technique and if time permits practicing this technique.

Key #2: Speech That Edifies: Right speaking, Eph. 4:29, 16 Never’s of Communication.

Key #3: Sex in Marriage: We will examine God’s purposes for sex in marriage, 1 Cor. 7:5-6, and the number one key to great sex in marriage: exclusivity, while looking at the damages and dangers of pornography and adultery.

Key #4: Serenity in Marriage: Learning to be content with the one God gave us in marriage, examining Prov. 5 rejoicing in the wife of our youth, Phil. 4:11-13 and 1Tim. 6:6-10
